January 24, 2002 Dear Venturers: I am extremely honored to be representing Venturing throughout the Southern Region. My home is San Marcos, Texas and I am currently serving as the Southern Region Venturing President. During my term I wish to accomplish two main goals. The first is to see Venturing Officers Associations (VOAs) or Teen Leaders Councils (TLCs) set up in the councils where it will be most beneficial to the Venturing program. Secondly, I would like to see more Venturing summer camp programs so that the Venturers within the council can have a greater opportunity to earn advancement while having fun. To ensure that these goals can be accomplished, I am asking for your support. We all know that Venturing is an amazing program that provides young adults with many opportunities to grow and develop by learning skills that they will enjoy using. I would like to see more youth in America taking advantage of what this program has to offer them. Right now, to get things up and on their way, I would like to know: (1) Does your council have a Venturing Officers Association or Teen Leaders Council? (2) If not, would you like assistance in getting one started? (3) Does your council offer summer camp program opportunities for Venturers? (4) If so, does it include opportunities to earn advancement? (5) What activities are offered in camp?
